Exploring CCS's Philanthropy Pulse survey and what the data means for nonprofits

Staying current on giving trends is key to successfully navigating the ever evolving philanthropic landscape. Each year, strategic fundraising firm, CCS Fundraising, conducts a national  survey of nonprofits across all sectors. With more than 1,200 participants, the survey provides helpful data on nonprofit fundraising strategies, results, and the technologies used by development teams. In this session,  we will explore giving trends from the survey and hear responses to the data from a panel of nonprofit executives. 

Join us on Friday, March 10 for a Zoom program featuring Ted Blackburn and An Nguyen of CCS Fundraising and nonprofit co-presenters Rehana Abbas of the San Francisco Foundation and Mary Nemverov of the California Academy of Sciences, who will explore current philanthropic trends and what they mean for nonprofits and fundraising in 2023.

 

CCS Panelists:

An Nguyen, Senior Vice President, CCS Fundraising

An Nguyen is a Senior Vice President at CCS Fundraising and has dedicated over 15 years to advancing the philanthropic work of nonprofits. She has partnered with organizations from an expansive range of sectors including primary and secondary education, healthcare, human services, arts and culture, and religion. Her expertise includes major gift fundraising, campaign assessment and management, and volunteer mobilization – all through a lens of building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for philanthropy to grow and thrive. An previously served as the Director of Development, PR and Education at Hospice of Hilo in Hawaii.

 

Ted Blackburn, Managing Director, CCS Fundraising

Ted Blackburn has been with CCS for nearly 20 years serving as advisor to nonprofits across sectors, including healthcare, independent and higher education, human services, faith, environment and conservation, arts and culture, and advocacy. Ted’s experience includes development of strategic planning, lead, principal and major gift programs, capital campaign planning and management, endowment fundraising, foundation and corporate giving, grassroots fundraising strategies, board development and engagement, data and analytics utilization, and volunteer and staff training. He has designed, advised, and directed dozens of resource development initiatives that have raised collectively over $10 billion, positively impacting people and communities across the country.

 

Nonprofit Panelists:

Rehana Abbas, Chief Philanthropy Officer, San Francisco Foundation

Rehana Abbas has more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. In her role as Chief Philanthropy Officer of the San Francisco Foundation, she facilitates the movement of resources for racial equity and economic opportunity. Prior to joining the foundation, Rehana founded her own consulting firm, RKA Advisors. Previously, she served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Oakland Museum of California, where she successfully led the museum’s $85 million comprehensive campaign. Prior to the Oakland Museum of California, Rehana held fundraising roles at SFMOMA, the UCSF Foundation, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. She serves on the board of the Children’s Council of San Francisco.

 

Mary Nemerov, Chief Philanthropy Officer, California Academy of Sciences

Mary Nemerov is Chief Philanthropy Officer at the California Academy of Sciences.
In this role, Mary works closely with the Academy’s Board of Trustees and a team of development professionals to raise philanthropic gifts that support the institution’s world-class scientific research, environmental literacy programs, conservation initiatives, and public museum. An accomplished fundraiser with more than 20 years of experience, Nemerov joined the Academy in 2020. Prior to joining the Academy, Mary spent 13 years at the Sierra Club and eight years with the Trust for Public Land in New England.

 

Marcos Santiago, Chief Advancement Officer and Vice President of Communications, YMCA of San Francisco

Marcos Santiago is Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Vice President of Communications at the YMCA of San Francisco. Marcos brings approximately 15 years of fundraising experience to his work with the YMCA. Prior to joining the YMCA, Marcos served as a Senior Vice President with CCS Fundraising where he led a range of fundraising engagements including campaign management, development assessments, and interim advancement team leadership. Previously, Marcos led fundraising and external affairs departments at regional and national nonprofit organizations focused on improving education and health outcomes in public school systems in major urban areas across the United States.
